It's important when you very first start out to not overdo it. Just work out with medium weights with one or two sets of 10 or 15 reps. The whole point of the beginning steps is just to become flexible and have your body used to working out a few times a week. Don't do things to hurt yourself as this will just prolong your fitness journey. Make sure you wear the proper protection gear. If you are a plus size person like me you can find a weight lifting back support at Lowe's or Home Depot. Shop around for the best supplies that will fit your figure.
